You may be facing one of the biggest challenges of your life–a relationship problem, a serious illness, significant loss, anxiety or depression. I use both brief and long-term methods so that we can make progress quickly and then sustain it. As we work toward a greater understanding and clarity, I will help you to pay attention to your thoughts, feelings, and sensations; accompanying you through the fear and sadness, the pain and loneliness. My goal is for you to end up feeling stronger and more capable. I work with individuals and couples to develop full functioning (“abundant life”) by alleviating personal obstacles, increasing psychological flexibility, and decreasing pain. My special interests include couples therapy, palliative care, and serious illness including cancer–recognizing patterns, and helping you to live as fully as possible. In addition to psychology training, I am an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church; this experience allows me to respect and address spiritual issues in therapy. The Willow Wellness Center provides psychological care for adults of all ages, especially 50 and older, including mindfulness meditation classes.
