I understand the healing process as one of self-determination through therapeutic empathy. Being curious while employing sensitive honesty makes me a good fit for people who are open to exploring deeper personal and interpersonal connections. I look through the lens of attachment, psychodynamic theory, and existential thought within ecological and systemic perspectives that appreciates the pressures that impact quality of life issues. I am interested in working with individuals, couples, and families from diverse cultural backgrounds who find themselves struggling in relationships, depression, anxiety, complex trauma, psychosis, and grief/loss. I have found that listening in the service of understanding and thoughtful responsiveness helps my patients connect to their inner life and with others. Using gentle honesty and compassion, I value autonomy and collaboration to help people feel less alone and find a sense of purpose in the world.

Julie believes therapy is a unique relationship that allows people to bring their whole selves to the encounter: there is no judgment of self-destructive habits or symptoms in the space she creates for her clients. When you feel free to discuss your real emotions, a relationship based on trust develops, allowing you to begin thinking about yourself in deeper and more truthful ways. It is this process that empowers you to change. Julie is here to support you as you experiment with new and often scary ways of thinking, feeling and living. She is here to help you imagine your own vision of a life you may never have thought was possible or deserved.
